EROL SCOTT HARRIS II
Originally from Chicago, Illinois, Harris received his BFA from Columbia College Chicago and has recently graduated from Yale School of Art in Painting and Printmaking. He derives inspiration from his grandparents, who migrated to the United States from Guanajuato, Mexico. Their work as floorers and railroad workers in Chicago, Illinois, continues to shape his perception of synthetic world building. Forming an impression also depends on how materials impress on us. It can be a belief (“to be under an impression”). It can be an imitation or an image (“to create an impression”). Or it can be a mark on the surface (“to leave an impression”). We need to remember the ‘press’ in an impression ... for it is a reminder to think in terms of action.
